제목 | Producing Ethanol from synthetic gas by Clostridium autoethanogenum |
초록 | C. autoethanogenum is extremely anaerobic and known to produce acetate and ethanol through Wood-Ljungdahl pathway with CO as sole carbon source. However, when it comes to commercial process using actual waste gas (e.g. COG, BFG, and LDG) from steel manufacturing facilities, additional purification cost will incur. Therefore, we used synthetic gas which has almost same components with BFG gas; 20 % CO, 20 % CO2, 10 % H2, N2 balance. Fed-batch culture was performed in 125 ml serum vial at 37 °C, 200 rpm and pH 7.0. 75 ml of headspace volume in the vial was replaced with the synthesis gas every 12 hours. After 120 hours of the culture, small amount of acetate and ethanol was observed and increased further.
