제목 Inherent and Interfacial Evaluation of Carbon Fiber/Epoxy Composites by Micromechanical Test at Cryogenic Temperature
초록 Interfacial properties of carbon fiber reinforced epoxy composites were evaluated at 25˚C and -150˚C using micromechanical techniques. Statistical distributions of tensile strengths were evaluated at room and cryogenic temperatures, which is dependent upon fiber’s inherent flaws and rigidity. Under tensile and compressive loading conditions, their mechanical modulus at cryogenic temperature was higher than that at room temperature. Interfacial shear strength (IFSS) at room and cryogenic temperatures was compared to each other, depending on epoxy matrix toughness and apparent modulus at the interface. The IFSS was much higher at cryogenic temperature than that at room temperature because of the increased epoxy matrix modulus.
