Simultaneously Enhancing Light Extraction and Device Stability of Organic Light Emitting Diodes by Corrugated Polymer Nanosphere Templated PEDOT:PSS Layer |

Organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) have drawed a great attention because of their applicability in flat-panel displays and solid-state lighting. However, one of the major drawbacks of conventional OLEDs is the light confinement as waveguide and substrate modes. And achieving long term stability is another important challenge for OLEDs, because their underlying organic functional layers are highly sensitive to oxygen and moisture. Herein, we suggest an efficient method for fabricating a corrugated conducting thin film that provides efficient light extraction and enhanced stability. Continuous PEDOT:PSS with corrugated nanostructure was fabricated using an assembly of cross-linked polystyrene nanospheres as template. It is demonstrated that power and luminous efficiencies of the Ir(ppy)3-based OLEDs using corrugated nanostructure were enhanced by factors of 2.0 and 1.4 compared to the control device. In addition, stability enhancement by the factor of up to four is demonstrated. |
