Liquid marbles (LMs) have received much attention in potential applications due to their structural properties with hydrophobic surface. A wide variety of application include transport, gas storage, drug delivery system,. LMs are formed by rolling a small amount of liquid to a high hydrophobic solid. LMs have a characteristics of a non-wetting solid surface due to low surface energy particles. LMs generally have an ability to encapsulate a substance, can moves and release the substance under certain conditions. In this studies, we fabricated LMs formed by rolling liquid droplets with hydrophobic powder Zn-Azo MOFs(metal-organic frameworks). The azo in the Zn-Azo MOF exhibits a photoisomerization behavior in which structure change of the trans to cis-form by irradiation with UV light 365 nm. As a result, we made it possible not only to encapsulate the materials within the LMs but also to release the internal material by external stimuli such as UV/visible irradiation. |
