습식 공정으로 제조된 새로운 음극재료인 SiOx의 전기화학적 특성평가 |
초록 |
Silicon has been attended as an alternative anode material for lithium ion batteries because it has the high theoretical capacity of 4200 mAh/g. However, silicon is difficult to be applied as an anode material due to its strong volume expansion for lithium ion insertion resulting in poor cyclability. C-SiOx was prepared by sol-gel method and subsequent pitch coating to solve these problems. The first charge and discharge capacities of the 5 wt% pitch coated SiOx were approximately 1140 and 418 mAh/g, respectively, to give an initial irreversible loss of 63%. As the amount of pitch was increased, the initial capacity increased. It showed 1400 and 828 mAh/g, respectively, at 40 wt% with irreversible loss of 41% because the SiOx would be covered perfectly with pitch. However, the increasing amount of pitch at 40 wt% rather had low cyclability. It was degraded overall battery performance because more lithium ions were trapped at higher amount of pitch. Therefore, it was checked that the superior electrochemical characteristic of C-SiOx is attributed to depend on the optimal weight of thin and uniform pitch-coating prepared. |
