제목 Effects of Nanoscale Structural Properties of Ordered Mesoporous Carbons on Capacitive Energy Storage: Nickel Nanofoam and Different Ordered Phases
초록 Electric double layer capacitors (EDLCs) have received high attention due to their high power density and potential for obtaining improved energy density. Ordered mesoporous carbon (OMC) is a promising candidate for use as an EDLC electrode because it has a high surface area and size-controllable mesopore structure supplying high accessibility to electrolyte ions. However, OMCs have several drawbacks including low electronic conductivity and long ionic diffusion path within mesopores. We present OMC electrodes using nickel nanofoams, which have relatively small pore network structures, as current collectors. This provides facile electronic/ionic current paths and plentiful surface area, enabling stable and tight attachment of OMCs without the use of binders. As a result, these structures lead to highly enhanced capacitive performance. We also investigated the mesopore structural effect of OMCs on electrolyte transport and noted that the cylindrical OMCs exhibited the best performance.
