Bead-type catalysts with macro-size have recently attracted because they provide rapid separation and recovery at the end of reaction. This can be regarded as an economical catalyst by improving reusability. Herein, we investigated the effect of bentonite on the preparation of bead-type Pd/C catalysts. Pd/C catalysts were prepared by chemical reduction method and the bead-type catalysts were prepared by a different ratio of bentonite. Bentonite is known as a binder to improve the strength and has less functional group than activated carbon. We aim to find the optimal ratio of bentonite with high strength and activity. The bead-type Pd/C catalysts were characterized by digital force gauge, XRD, FE-SEM, FT-IR, N2 physisorption, CO-chemisorption, and TGA. |
