In this work, mesoporous anatase TiO2 beads with tunable pore size were synthesized via a hydrothermal synthesis with various amount of ammonia treatment being used for controlling pore structures. Textural properties, especially pore diameters, could be easily tuned according to the amount of ammonia treatment up to 30.2 nm. The TiO2 beads synthesized by hydrothermal synthesis showed better photocatalytic activity in the experiment of rhodamine B photodegradation than that of amorphous TiO2 spheres. Among all prepared samples, TiO2 beads treated with 4 mL of ammonia water exhibited the best photocatalytic efficiency and degradation rate as compared to the other samples because of their suitable pore size for faster transfer of electrons. |
