제목 Synthesis of Highly Stable W-doped Titanium Dioxide Supported Platinum Electrocatalyst for Oxygen Reduction Reaction
초록 The corrosion of carbon support in acidic medium is a critical issue of commercial 20 wt% Pt/C electrocatalyst, hindering the large-scale application of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). In this study, Pt-supported tungsten-doped titanium dioxide nanomaterial was presented as a stable electrocatalyst towards oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). The W-doped titanium dioxide material synthesized by a simple solvothermal method exhibited greater surface area and electrical conductivity than the undoped material. Moreover, doping W into titanium dioxide structure was demonstrated to create oxygen vacancy and Ti3+ defect sites, resulting in the enhancement of strong-metal support interaction (SMSI) for Pt catalyst. The electrochemical performance results revealed the high half-wave potential, onset potential as well as limiting current density, illustrating the high ORR activity of the prepared catalyst. In particular, the durability test showed the excellent stability of 20 wt% Pt/W-doped titanium dioxide catalyst compared with the conventional catalyst. Hence, these results open a promising strategy to replace the unstable 20 wt% Pt/C catalyst.
