A series of soultion-processable electrochromic aromatic polyamides with triphenylamine (TPA) units in the backbone were prepared by the solution polymerization from the reaction of various diamine monomers which have electron donating methyl group in the various position of TPA and 4,4’-oxybisbenzoic acid monomers. The molecular structures of the polyamides were analyzed by means of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), UV spectroscopy and cyclic voltammograms (CV). These Polyamides having electron donor groups in the various position of TPA moiety showed reversible electrochemical oxidation and electrochromic phenomenon. Color change from colorless neutral from to blue oxidized from at applied potentials ranging from 0.0 to 1.8V |
