To enhance visible light absorbance of ZnS photocatalyst, ZnO were decorated on the surface of ZnS through heat treatment. ZnS was synthesized from typical hydrothermal method, and heterostructure with ZnO and ZnS confirmed with TEM analysis. Hydrogen production reaction performed under one sun irradiation condition. After heat treatment, photocatalytic activity of ZnS improved with the aid of ZnO. UV-vis spectra showed visible light absorbance, and PL spectra also noticed energy state of having proper band gap energy. Furthermore, such activity nearly maintained after 7.5 hrs of reaction, which indicates the stability of this photocatalytic system. Also, there was strong dependence of hydrogen production on heat treatment condition clearly shows the effect of ZnO formation. |
