Molecular imprinting constitutes a valuable method of preparing polymeric materials with specific binding properties, which have potential uses in applications such as chemical sensors, microreactors mimicking enzymes, stationary phases for high-performance chromatography, catalysts, and membrane for separating toxic chemicals. The most conspicuous merit of molecular imprinting is that structurally three-dimensional recognition site can be introduced into a polymer matrix with ease and low cost compared with the complicated processes of biological system for antigen and antibody. In this work, we prepared molecularly imprinted polymeric membranes bearing the photo-responsible azo-groups. Molecular imprinting ability came from amide and phenyl groups. And these groups could be controlled by cis-trans azo transformation. Imprinting ability was characterized by HPLC.
