In the present work, carbon nanotube-reinforced sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC/CNT) nanocomposites were prepared by a simple solution casting method. The CNTs can be homogeneously dispersed in water with a small amount of CMC polymer and was used as reinforcement. The crystal structure and morphologies of pure CMC, pristine CNTs, and CMC/CNT nanocomposites were investigated by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscope, respectively. The mechanical behaviors of pure CMC and CMC/CNT nanocomposite films were estimated by universal testing machine after cutting films to specimens using ASTM D638-05 blade. As a result, the tensile strength and Young’s modulus of CMC/CNT nanocomposites were enhanced according to the CNT amounts. |
