Zinc selenid (ZnSe) quantum dots were synthesized in the cavity of the apoferritin from horse spleen (HsAFr), where the ferritin is a self assembled iron storage protein with a 6 nm polypeptide cage and two-dimensional ZnSe-ferritin nanodots by simple touch method with modification of silicon wafer surface was obtained. Then, the PL intensity of the QDs in solution and array were studied with dopamine in order to utilize this material as a biosensor. In addition, the PL study was performed on the mixtures of dopamine and other neurotransmitters to confirm the selectivity of the ZeSe-ferritin nanodot array for dopamine. |
