In this work, the effects of ozone treatments on surface energetics and structural properties of carbon blacks (CB) and mechanical properties their various rubber composites were investigated. The surface properties of CB by oxidation process of ozone were studied in XPS and EDS. Mechanical properties was observed by a UTM depending on ASTM D412. As a result, it was found that the introduction rate of oxygen-containing polar functional groups, onto the CB surfaces was increased by increasing the ozone treatment time. It revealed that the rubber showed relatively a high degree of interaction with oxygen-containing functional groups of the CB surfaces, resulting in improving the mechanical properties of the composites. |
