Polyamide 6 (PA6) is one of the widely used engineering polymers in industries. Also, Mw of PA6 can be increased so that enhanced through chain extending process because it has various reactive sites on its polymer backbones. In many researches, various chain extenders have been described for PA6 which is polymerized from condensation polymerization of aminoic acid. But, there have been rarely reported that chain extending of PA6 which is polymerized from anionic ring-opening polymerization(ROP), due to the difference between hydrolytic PA6 and ROP PA6 on functional end groups. So it is necessary that bifunctional chain extenders which can react with caprolactamate end groups of anionic ring-opening polymerized PA6. In this research, we produced PA6 which had been polymerized from ROP of caprolactam by reactive extrusion, applying biscaprolactam as activator and diamine as chain extender. Diamine chain extenders reacted with caprolactamate end groups of PA6 to increase Mw. |
