제목 Effects of Dietary Fiber from Tubers and Stalks of Sweet Potato on Antioxidant Activity and Anticancer in Human Colon Cancer Cell Line
초록 Sweet potatoes are one of the important food crops all over the world and they are well known as a typical food to improve bowel function. They consist of starch mostly and have health functional ingredients abundantly such as vitamin C, minerals and dietary fiber. In this study, the amount of the total polyphenols and flavonoids in the dietary fiber from tubers and stalks of domestic sweet potatoes was measured and anticancer effects were verified through antioxidant activity and growth inhibition in human colon cancer cell line. In addition, the mechanism to affect gene expression was clarified by using RT-PCR. In the prevention of various diseases including cancer, the potential value could be confirmed through effects of the dietary fiber from tubers and stalks of sweet potato on antioxidant activity and anticancer in human colon cancer.
