Poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) is one of conventional materials widely used in a variety of industrial fields due to the high transparency, excellent mechanical and barrier properties, and processability. Recently, plastic wastes have become one of the most important environmental issues, and their consumption is rapidly increased after COVID-19. Mechanical recycling (MR) technique is one of approaches to reduce the environmental impact of plastic by decreasing the usages of the raw virgin materials. In this study, the effect of chain extender on the physical and mechanical properties of recycled-PET (R-PET) from PET bottle flakes was investigated to assess the recyclability of R-PET and safety for potential food contact packaging materials. |
