The amorphous titanium dioxide (TiO2) is synthesized by the sol–gel method and ultrasonic irradiation is conducted with different irradiation time to synthesize TiO2 with anatase-phase for photocatalyst. This process to prepare TiO2 of anatase-phase is more simple, faster and lower energy consumption than conventional heat-treatment process. The prepared TiO2 is characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), nitrogen gas adsorption. To evaluate anatase TiO2 as photocatalyst, methylene blue removal test is conducted under solar simulator using UV–visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. methyelene blue removal rate of the prepared TiO2 with 40 min in ultrasonic irradiation time is the highest, which is almost pure anatase TiO2. The removal rate of the prepared TiO2 irradiated above 40 min decreases because the ratio of rutile-phase TiO2 increases by ultrasonication. |
