Pressure sensible PVDF Nanoweb Prepared using Electro-spinning Process for Flexible Touch Sensors |

Along with the development of high-technical industry like robot, a tactile sensing material that is flexible, light, miniature, and can be substituted for PZT, is needed like PVDF exhibiting piezoelectricity for touch sensing. In this study, we focused on the incorporation of CaCl2 in electro-spinning PVDF into nano-webs in order to increase the β-crystalline content and hence improving piezoelectric characteristics without further poling process. Webs were produced from DMAc/acetone mixture solvent with varying contents of CaCl2. FT-IR and x-ray diffraction meaurements were made to confirm the changes in β-crystalline content as a function of CaCl2 content. Overall, the PVDF nano-webs produced exhibited improved β-crystalline content and greater sensitivity in touch. The results are reported in detail here.
