Effect of Anionic Surfactants and Si-based Coupling Agents for High Modulus Engineering Plastics |
초록 |
Mineral fillers are used in polymer composites as the substitutes of a relatively costly bulk material as well as the functional components to endow enhanced physical properties to the polymers. The properties of polymer composites are affected by several factors including the polymer matrix, reinforced-fibers, and their interfacial interactions. Numerous strategies have been proposed and investigated to improve the matrix-fiber interfacial adhesion. This includes the addition of coupling agents and surfactants to improve physical properties of the inorganic filler and polymer matrix. Silanes are by far the most popular coupling agents for mineral filler-reinforced polymer composites as an organic/inorganic reactive component. Herein, we report on a silane-based coupling agent and an anionic surfactant which were blended with PC/TALC composites. The result is showing improved physical properties. Details on melt-blending process and the enhanced interfacial wetting will be discussed. |
