Solid Polymer Electrolyte containing Solvating Ionic Liquid for Lithium Ion Batteries |

Solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) have served as the focus of intensive research to offer high mechanical and thermal properties without sacrificing ion conductivity. In this study, we prepare SPEs ,using a fully formulated epoxy resin and a solvating ionic liquid as an equimolar mixture of Li salt and glyme, by a simple thermal curing process. The cross-linked epoxy resin can provide high thermal stability as well as mechanical properties, and the solvating ionic liquid can maximize the ionic conductivity of the SPE. We investigate the effect of solvating plasticizer type and concentration on ionic conductivity and thermal stability of epoxy-based solid polymer electrolytes, using dielectric spectroscopy, TGA and DSC. The larger ion leads to a higher ionic conductivity with a lower activation energy (Ea). |
