Nitroxide-mediated polymerization, one of the controlled/“living” free radical polymerizations, is a useful technique to synthesis polymers having well-controlled molecular structures. However, the rate of polymerization is significantly reduced in the presence of TEMPO due to the reversible activation and deactivation process during the polymerization. Therefore, the polymerization rate-acceleration while maintaining the living behavior has been an obstacle to solve in TEMPO-mediated system. In this study, various acids including ethansulfonic acid, methansulfonic acid, 4,4'-sulfonyldibenzoic acid, diphenylacetic acid, ρ-toluenesulfonic acid are employed as the rate-acceleration agents, and their polymerization characteristics are investigated. |
