Broad operating potential window, mechanically and thermally robust electrolyte having good ionic conductivity are desired for next generation solid state electrochemical devices. However, energy storage under extreme conditions is still a big challenge because of electrolyte degradation and separator instability at higher temperatures. Here, we report synthesis of electrolyte, which can provide reliable performance and durability in harsh conditions. Tailor made ionogel electrolyte structure was prepared by synthesizing double network gel from compatible polymers and by combining it with room temperature ionic liquids. Flexible supercapacitors (f-SC) with graphitic carbon electrodes and prepared ionogel show stable supercapacitor performance at 180oC with good cyclic stability. The f-SCs showed extreme long-term stability with very little/no compromise with performance under high-temperature operation and/or a flexibility test in both static and dynamic modes at elevated temperatures. |
