Preparation of Particulate Li4Ti5O12 Negative Electrode Prepared by Sol-Gel Method for Lithium Ion Battery |

Li4Ti5O12 based spinel-framework structures are of great interest as negative electrode materials for lithium secondary batteries. Li4Ti5O12 was first synthesized via sol-gel process with good crystallity of an average particle size of 0.195 um and high energy ball milling HEBM of precursor to form nano crystalline phases. The electrochemical performance of solid-state negative electrode was carried out using a solvent-free solid polymer electrolyte at 60C and 80C. A Li4Ti5O12 vs. lithium cell discharged at C / 12 delivered 150 mAh/g for the conventional method and 160 mAh/g for the method using high ball energy milling, corresponding respectively to 97 % and 96 % first-cycle coulombic efficiency. |
