In this study, polyethylenimine (PEI)/polyvinyl chloride (PVC) crosslinked fiber (PEI/PVC-CF) was developed and employed as a adsorbent for recovery of Pt(IV) in 0.1 M HCl solution. Through the analyses of SEM and FTIR, the surface and adsorption characteristics of PEI/PVC-CF were examined. Batch experiments regarding of Pt(IV) sorption were performed to evaluate the sorption performance of the developed adsorbent. The contact time to reach equilibrium was increased from 30 to 150 min as increasing the initial Pt(IV) concentrations from 25 to 200 mg/L. The equilibrium data were well fitted by the Langmuir isotherm model and the maximum uptake of Pt(IV) was 217.31 mg/g. Also, 100% of Pt was detached from loaded adsorbent using the mixture of 0.1 M HCl-20 mM thiourea as an eluent. Furthermore, the results of the sorption/desorption test indicated that PEI/PVC-CF could be considered as a reusable adsorbent for recovery of Pt(IV). |
