Single Polydiacetylene Particle Sensor for Hydrocarbon Oil Detection |

Polydiacetylene (PDA) has attracted much attention recently due to its interesting color change from blue to red upon external stimuli. Particularly, the blue-to-red transition of PDA is accompanied by a fluorescence response.. These properties make PDA an excellent candidate for the effective detector of various chemicals. A single PDA particle sensor has been fabricated to detect different hydrocarbon oils. The sensor consists of a self-assembled PDA particle that has been formed by a co-current microfluidic system and then imbedded in a PDMS slab. The obtained single PDA particle sensor is used to distinguish hydrocarbon oils according to their carbon chain length. |
