Polymeric fibers with nanoscale diameters are prepared by electrospinning. In this work, PEO ultrafine fiber webs containing indomethacin were fabricated by an electrospinning. The resultant diameter distribution and morphologies of the nanofiber webs are evaluated by SEM analyses. The presence of indomethacin in the nanofiber webs were confirmed by FT-IR spectra. The release behaviors of indomethacin from the nanofiber webs were examined by an UV/visible spectroscopy and a high performance liquid chromatography. From the results, the diameters of electrospun nanofiber webs were predominantly influenced by the specific ranges of apply voltage, concentration of indomethacin in PEO solutions, and tip-to-collector distance. The release behaviors of indomethacin were basically dependent on the concentration in PEO solutions, but it was also strongly affected by diameters of the fiber. |
