Isolation and Characterization of Polymer-Recognizing Peptides |

Combinatorial phage display methods were applied to films composed of synthetic polymers with simple chemical structures to isolate polymer-recognizing short peptides. Peptide-displaying phage clones showed greater affinities for target polymers than structurally similar references. Quantitative surface plasmon resonance measurements revealed greater association and smaller dissociation constants of the synthetic peptides against polymer targets than references, followed by greater affinity constants against the targets. Novel and significant potentials of peptides in polymer science will be demonstrated. |
