Measurement of Water Vapor Permeation of Epoxy Functionalized Organic-Inorganic Hybrid Materials (Epoxy Hybrimers) for Application in Gas Barrier Coating |

OLED has been attracted attention for the next generation display. However, their disadvantages are restricted in applications due to their high gas permeation. Thus, many researchers have tried to fabricate high performance gas barrier materials. Inorganic materials have excellent barrier properties but they also have many defects. Consequently, polymer and inorganic multi-layers (dyads) was used for high performance gas barrier films. In this study, we synthesized the epoxy hybrimers which consist of siloxane networks and organic functional groups using non-hydrolytic sol-gel reaction. We measured the permeability of the epoxy hybrimer film for oxygen and water using Ca test method which measure resistivity change of Ca layer. The epoxy hybrimers show excellent barrier properties because of inorganic networks, hydrophobicity and high density of the cured films. They also show high photosensitivity, transmittance and smooth surface to be applied practically in various fields. |
