Growing demands on wearable devices have drawn the necessity for stretchable electronics. Among these devices and systems, stretchable conductors are basic and indispensable units of stretchable electronic systems because they not only serve as electrodes but also interconnect components within most of these stretchable electronic systems. Here, we report the fabrication method of a stretchable conductor by electrospinning the blend solution of thermoplastic polyurethane and polyimide to produce a wavy patterned nanofiber network, sputtering gold thereon and transferring it onto a polydimethylsiloxane substrate. Since the prepared conductor has the form of a nanofiber network and with a wavy pattern, our conductor is highly transparent and has a relatively lower strain sensitivity of resistance than that of the conductor with a straight nanofiber network. It is expected that the application in this study will also help manufacture transparent wearable devices that can be attached to the skin. |
