제목 Polymer Architecture for Targeted Applications
초록 In polymeric materials the primary chemical structure is extremely critical in determining the majority of their properties and applications. This signifies reversely that successful applications can be targeted by and reflected to the best-fit molecular architecture of polymer synthesis. In the presentation will be demonstrated three examples of novel high-performance polymers recently synthesized in our laboratory based on the molecular design aiming at their targeted applications in mind. They include the polypyromellitimides for application as the liquid crystal-aligning films for TFT-LCD devices, the aromatic polyimides substituted with o-nitrobenzyl ether group for application to microlithography for semiconductor passivation and the aromatic sulfonated polysulfones with improved ionic conductivity and lowered methanol crossover for application as Nafion-replacing polymer electrolyte membrane for direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC).
