Photoinduced Topographical Feature Programmed in Azobenzene-Functionalized Liquid Crystalline Elastomers |
초록 |
All optical deformation and recovery of complex topographical features is demonstrated using main-chain type azobenzene functionalized liquid crystalline elastomers (azo-LCEs). The azo-LCEs are prepared using reactive LC monomers and n-butylamine through a two steps orthogonal reactions including chain extension of LC monomers, followed by photopolymerization. Using surface alignment, the local orientation of the LC director is spatially complex. Exposing the blueprinted LCE films to light stimulus generates the photomechanical response visualized as reversible shape changes between 2D and 3D shapes. A systematic investigation reveals that optical deformation of azo-LCEs strongly depends on the azobenzene concentration as well as the network structure. Blueprinting complex director profiles within azo-LCEs yield reconfigurable elastic sheets that can be addressed both remotely and selectively which may have benefit in a variety of applications in aerospace, medicine, and optics. |
