Fiber-reinforced polymer composites are widely used in consumer products, construction, electronics, automotive, aerospace industries due to lightweight, high specific strength, corrosion-resistant properties, etc. Especially, the composites prepared by prepreg process present high quality compared with conventional hand layup or resin infusion process. However, prepregs currently in use are mostly cured at high T above 125 oC in an autoclave to maintain high T and P, which is an obstacle to make large structured products such as yacht hull and wind turbine blade. In the case that low temperature cure resin is available, large structured products can be easily made in a mold with heating blower, not in confined space. In this study, low T cure epoxy-based resin system were formulated and the curing behavior was investigated by chemorheology and thermal analysis. |
