To collect the solar light more efficiently, the use of dye sensitization is one of feasible approaches, because appropriate allocation of dye molecules at the donor/acceptor interface can promote the charge separation of exitons at the interface. However, dye molecules simply blended as the third component rarely improvethe device performance because of dye aggregations in blend films. To solve this problem, we have synthesized pyridyl-terminated P3HT (P3HT-Py) and solution processible zinc phthalocyanine (ZnPc), both of which form a coordination complex. Furthermore, to localize ZnPc dye molecules at the donor/acceptor interface more effectively, another new organic dye molecule, fullerene-functionalized ZnPc (ZnPc-C60), has been synthesized and also linked to the chain end of P3HT-Py, because it is expected that ZnPc-C60 molecule has better compatibility with PCBM than ZnPc. |
