MFI zeolite of Si/Al = 30 with different mesoporosities were synthesized and used as MTH catalysts. Especially, the molar compositions of H2O and EtOH were modified to obtain the two type MFI catalysts. The catalysts were acquired via the interconnection of thin pillars; 6 nm thick with marked mesoporosity (H_30; high mesoporosity) and 13 nm thick without significant mesoporosity (L_30; low mesoporosity). The acid properties show H_30 had internal Brønsted (B) acid similar to those in the commercial MFI (Si/Al = 75; C_75), but H_30 included large external B acid. The performance show H_30 preferred to create propene over ethene compared to C_75, while L_30 show a poor performance due to the low internal B acid. The thin-layered structure of H_30 decreased the selectivity for ethene, resulting in high propene/ethene ratio of ~9.1. |
