제목 Synthesis and Characterization of Novel Multiblock Copolymers based on Poly(p-phenylene) for Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell Applications.
초록 The general requirement for fuel cell membranes are high proton conductivity, low fuel permeability, chemical, mechanical and thermal stability over long periods of time as well as reasonable cost. Hydrophilic-hydrophobic nanophase separated block copolymers may be more suitable as proton exchange membranes than random copolymers. A series of multiblock copolymers based poly(p-phenylene) were synthesized from hydrophilic and hydrophobic oligomers by coupling reactions. The copolymers were characterized with DSC, TGA, IEC, proton conductivity, and water uptake. The multiblock copolymers showed superior proton conductivity at low relative humidity when compared to the analogous random copolymers.
