The antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects of nanomaterials |

Antibacterial effect of two types of nanomaterials, branched polyethylene imine-surface modified SiNPs to synthesize NO-releasing and drugs loaded carboxymethylcellulose-chitosan coating films, was investigated. The antibacterial effects of BPEI-NONPs were tested using S. aureus and P. aeruginosa. After incubation of bacteria and BPEI-NONPs, bacterial growth was measured at 600 nm. These results showed NO successfully released from BPEI-NONPs. and the bacterial activity was inhibited. Levofloxacin, the antibiotics, or Prednisolone (Pds), the steroidal anti-inflammatory medicine was loaded. Film was stained using crystal violet for detection of biofilm-formation. Anti-inflammatory effect was performed using lipopolysaccharide damaged human nasal epithelial cell. Following treatment, expression level of inflammatory cytokines were dramatically decreaed. We suggest the drugs were well loaded on film and the antibacterial or anti-inflammatory effect was significantly working. |
