제목 Chelating Properties of Acrylic Acid Copolymers and Conventional Chelating Agents Measured by a Calcium Ion Electrode Method
초록 Natural water or tap water is not as pure as distilled water and it contains the inorganic elements like calcium and magnesium. Chelating agent plays a role to sequester calcium and magnesium ions. Acrylic acid copolymers derived from maleic acid, alkyl maleate or alkyl acrylate were synthesized and the average molecular weight of the polymers was controlled from 10,000 to 25,000. For the applications of the aqueous polymer, the equilibrium calcium ion concentration by a calcium ion electrode was measured in the aqueous polymer solution. The calcium binding capability of most of the copolymers synthesized is very higher than traditional chelants such as EDTA, tripolyphosphate and polyacrylic acid in the low concentration of the chelating agent.
