If you have a wound in your body, bleeding occurs at the wound site. When bleeding occurs, the human body starts hemostatic action to stop the bleeding. If the wound area is large and deep, it is difficult to stop bleeding completely with human blood alone. Dressings and medicines are needed to prevent bleeding. Basically, bleeding stopped means blood coagulation. Squid bones have been used as hemostatic agents. Cuttlefish contains calcium carbonate and β-chitin that can act as hemostatic agents. We fabricated nanofibers using β-chitosan as a blood coagulation promoter. Calcium carbonate was synthesized using calcium chloride and sodium carbonate and coated on the nanofibers. As a result, it was found that β-chitosan and calcium carbonate nanofibers affect blood coagulation and can be expected for medical use. |
