Poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) is one of the most studied polymeric systems that exhibit piezoelectric and pyroelectric properties. Accordingly, PVDF and its copolymers have received great attentions for the advanced applications such as electromechanical systems and charge-storage capacitors. Therefore, for enhanced performances and for expanded applications of PVDF, the high mechanical properties and/or electrical conductivity are demanded. In this study, in order to improve the mechanical properties, PVDF were melt compounded with various content of polyarylate (PAR) and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA). PAR and PMMA were used as reinforcement and compatibilizer, respectively. The compatibility of the PAR/PMMA/PVDF blends were characterized by using a differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), and scanning electron microscope (SEM). In addition, crystallization of the PAR/PMMA/PVDF blends were analyzed using a X-ray diffraction (XRD). |
