As preparing of PET based composite materials with inorganic nucleating agents, the restricted nucleating behaviors have been a drawback by the reason of compatibility within PET matrixes. One of the most potential nucleating agent for PET is polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS) that inorganic functional groups can provide high thermal stability and nucleation ability. Moreover, various organic moieties can act as a compatibilizer onto PET chains. In this study, the compatibility between functionalized T12 POSS and PET was investigated. We synthesized the aminopropyl functionalized T12 polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (Amine-POSS) and investigated for promising nucleating agent for PET composites. The effects of two kinds of POSS on the crystallization derivation of PET were confirmed. As a result, we demonstrated that these amine moiety is able to operate chemically conjugation within PET backbone and homogeneous dispersion than non-functional T12 POSS. |
