Removal of copper (II) from aqueous solution by using functionalized Nanoporous Silica |

In this study, amine functionalized Nonoporous Silica was developed and subsequently used as an adsorbent for removing Cu(II) ion from aqueous solution. The Nanoporous Silica was first prepared by sol-gel method before functionalization. A range of amino groups together with some selected ligands such as NH3 and EDTA were immobilized on the surface of the nanoporous silica. The Nanoporous silica and its functionalized counterpart were characterized by using FT-IR spectroscopy, TG-DT analysis, N2 absorption/desorption, and SEM. Then the adsorption capacity of the prepared material was examined in a wide range of pH. This report will discuss the results obtained. |
