제목 Removal of carbon residue in waste plastic pyrolysis oil via oxidation
초록 The disposal of waste plastic is an important environmental and social issue. Amounts of waste surpassed the disposal capacity of landfills and incineration. Environmental regulations are increasingly stringent. As a new disposal method, plastic recycling is investigated. Recycling aims to develop an eco-friendly technology producing new chemicals from the waste. Plastics are pyrolyzed and upgraded to produce high value-added chemicals. The upgrading process is divided into physical and chemical pretreatments. As one of the physical treatments, we target to remove the carbon residue in pyrolysis oil. Carbon residue is carbonaceous material that causes fouling. Carbon residue should be removed to improve the efficiency of refining. In this work, the strategy of removal is to increase the hydrophilic group in the carbon residue via oxidation. Carbon residue with increased hydrophilic functional groups aggregates and forms precipitate. By removing the precipitate, carbon residue is removed simultaneously.
