An electrochromic material (ECM) is a substance, which can switch the color according to current flow when an electric field is applied. Electrochromic devices (ECDs) containing liquid electrolyte have often suffered by leakage, which can be a limiting factor in long-term performance. In general, the viologen based ECDs are inferior in terms of low optical density and slow switching speed. In order to address these problems, we designed and fabricated ECDs containing ionic liquid (IL) supported on electrospun nanofibers. For the purpose, viologen containing solid electrolyte mats were first prepared by immersing the electrospun mat of PVDF-co-HFP in IL. The prepared ECDs are expected to exhibit large surface area beneficial for the improved electrochromic performance. The electrochromic properties of the ECDs were examined by cyclic voltammetry and spectroelectrochemistry. |
