제목 Synthesis and Characterization of Fluorescent Polymers for White Light Emitting Diodes, as LUCO Material
초록 Organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) have received a good chance to become the main display system in the near future. The recent research efforts have been dedicated to the development of electroluminescent polymers and organic materials for the use of light emitting diodes (LEDs). The efforts were stimulated by the potential applications of these devices in the electronic industry. The main advantages of such LEDs are lightweight and have a large active area of flexibility. Similarly, white light emitting diodes (WLEDs) can be fabricated using luminescence converters (LUCO materials) with a primary pumping source of blue LED. Here, low molecular weight polyesters containing fluorescein units in their backbones were successfully synthesized. These fluorescent polymers showed a high solubility in most of the common organic solvents. The onset degradation temperatures of the polymers were higher than that of fluorescein. The glass transition temperatures were in the range 126-194℃. The polymer powders exhibited maximum photoluminescence intensity in the region of yellow at about 580 nm. This fluorescent polymer generated almost white light emission with a total luminous flux of 1.9 lumen, at 20 mA. Output power is almost comparable with commercially available inorganic phosphors.
