Effect of Pr doping on the structural, magnetic and magnetocaloric properties of double perovskite Ba2-xPrxFeMoO6 |

The effects of the partial substitution of Nb for Mo on the structural, magnetic and magnetocaloric properties of the double perovskite Sr2FeMoO6 were explored. All the samples were prepared by using the conventional solid state reaction method. The formation of impurity phases was carefully minimized by strictly monitoring the gas (mixture of 5% H2/95% Ar) flow to the furnace in the final sintering process. XRD study showed that all the samples crystallized in a tetragonal structure with 14/mmm space group. The variation of magnetization (M) as a function of temperature and applied magnetic field was carried out. All the samples showed a paramagnetic to ferromagnetic phase transition at the Curie temperature, TC. A magnetocaloric effect was calculated in terms of isothermal magnetic entropy change. A sufficient variation in the magnetocaloric properties of the samples was observed with the increasing Nb doping. This investigation suggests that Sr2FeMo1-xNbxO6 can be used as a potential candidate material for magnetocaloric applications. |
