Low density polyethylene(LDPE)is polymerized by free radical reaction at high temperature and high pressure. It has a complicated molecular structure due to its branching, depending on the process and polymerization conditions. In this study, we analyzed the molecular weight of the LDPE samples by gel permeation chromatography(GPC) coupled with light scattering detector. Compared to the result from refractive index detector(RDI) showing low reproducibility, light scattering spectra showed the structural differences of the samples more obviously according to the process conditions. Additionally, the correlation between GPC-LSD results and rheological properties was observed. |
