The rheological properties of nylon-66/clay nanocomposites were investigated in terms of mixing conditions during melt compounding. At the given apparent shear, the dynamic viscosity and storage modulus of nylon-66/clay nanocomposites were increased as mixing speed was increased. In the modified Cole-Cole plot, the nanocomposites prepared at higher mixing speed gave smaller slope and inflection point at higher loss modulus. Clay nanoparticles played a role of nucleating agent for nylon-66 by increasing crystallization temperature, which was more pronounced at lower mixing speed. The induction time during isothermal crystallization under shear at 235 oC was shorter for the nanocomposites prepared at lower mixing speed. |
