제목 | Synthesis, characterization, and surface modification of highly monodisperse amorphous silica nanoparticles (ASNs): A platform to study phase transformation of amorphous to crystalline silica under solvothermal conditions |
초록 | Phase transformations are fundamental phenomena that lie at the heart of many structural and physical properties in condensed matter physics and materials science. Many transformations, especially those occurring under extreme conditions are likely controlled by particular processes, including nucleation and quenching of metastable phases that are poorly understood. Silica is a mineral found in nature and has been employed in industrial fields. Its amorphous form can be transformed to crystalline structures under hydrothermal conditions. We are developing synthetic methods to prepare chemically functionalized amorphous silica nanoparticles (ASNs). ASNs can be an ideal platform to study amorphous-to-crystalline phase transformations under solvothermal conditions. |
